Animal Charity Evaluators - Movement Grants

ACE Logo Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW) has a lot in store in enhancing the welfare of layer and broiler chickens! Thanks to Animal Charity Evaluators Movement Grants, ANAW is one step closer to embedding the Code of Practice in Chicken Welfare along the chicken value chain in Nakuru County ensuring these precious animals’ wellbeing is preserved and respected throughout their life. Through engagements with different stakeholders in the sector including policymakers, ANAW envisions to:

  • Improve chicken health status through effective and efficient disease management
  • Improve stocking density and spacing of chicken in production
  • Improve nutrition and feeding through provision of safe and sufficient feed and water during production, transportation and in marketing facilities
  • Improve handling and restraint of chicken to reduce distress during production, transportation and marketing
  • Improve welfare positive behaviors such as perching, wing flapping, pecking and scratching through provision of adequate inputs

This great and outstanding initiative is made possible by funding from Animal Charity Evaluators Movement Grants.
